The Mini-Slim Pro has the same iconic shape, portable size and ceramic burrs of the Mini-Slim+, but with some upgrades. This grinder has a cast aluminum handle and stainless steel body for more strength and a sleeker look.

All of Hario’s manual coffee grinders use burrs made of ceramic – conical ceramic burrs transfer less heat and shave coffee beans versus cracking them like blade grinders. This process also provides a more consistent grind that can easily be adjusted and set for repeat use.

We were not fans of some of the other Hario hand grinders we tried – e.g. the Skerton and the Mini-Slim Plus – but Hayley (head of our Barista Academy) and our team tested this one and were happy with its performance at the price. In summary – better grind uniformity, sweeter, with better cup clarity and mouthfeel. The build quality is far better and the straight handle on the Pro is more comfortable to turn than the offset handle of the Plus. The rubber edging on the lid of the Pro also helps the lid to stay in place better. We had issues in the past with the lid of the standard model slipping while grinding.
