We are now exposing the heart of our roastery for your entertainment where you can experience the complete production process live and unplugged. Leave the comfort of the downstairs space you know and love, walk through our barista school, and head upstairs to the newest space at Origin.

In our upstairs cafe along with the great coffee, expect some of Cape Town’s best breakfasts and eclectic lunches. For breakfast, expect fresh ideas like “post-modern baked beans on toast”, ricotta hotcakes with bacon and maple syrup, our breakfast bagel with free range scrambled eggs, bacon, basil and cherry tomatoes and soufflé style omelettes. For lunch we have daily soups and salads, and some amazing new sandwiches like the slow-roasted lamb with grilled aubergine & courgettes and yoghurt and harissa,

All these are the inventions of our talented chef, Warrick Hand. Warrick has worked across the spectrum; from Mediterranean super-yachts and Rovos Rail to the Olympia Café and Deli.

We designed this floor so that you can enjoy your food and coffee while watching Cuth roast our beans to release their ultimate potential. Get involved with how coffee is processed: from green bean to cup. At the same time, see how Origin’s traditional Montreal bagels are made as the bakers knead and roll, boil and bake to get that chewy, flavourful bagel, only available at Origin. We’re mad about our bagels; we think you should be too.

With the aroma of freshly-roasted coffee, soulful food, and a buzzing vibe spilling out onto the modern deck, this is a great place for meetings or lazy mornings under the umbrellas in the heart of the city’s beautiful and historic Cape Quarter.
